When the local-18 team spoke to the current operator of Pandit Kulfi, Dramak Sharma, he said that this shop was started by his grandfather Rameshwar Prasad Sharma in 1947. At the age of 19, he used to sell Kulfi on a cart, which cost only 25 paise at that time. As the taste of Kulfi started to get people, Panditji’s name also became famous. By the 90s, this journey reached the shop from the cart and today it has become a tradition to taste Pandit Kulfi for those who roam Hawamahal.
Prepare Sharma says that our Kulfi is different from the common Kulfi because it uses special formulas and real drots made by grandfather. Especially in our saffron Kulfi, the real saffron of Kashmir is used, which makes it wonderful. Sugar free kulfi is also prepared for diabetic people so that they can enjoy it without hesitation. The price of Kulfi is from 30 to 90 rupees, but the maximum demand is that of saffron pistachios Kulfi, because everyone is remembered.

Prepare Sharma said that in the last 75 years, many celebrities have come to taste Kulfi here. Big stars like Sunny Deol, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgan, Saif Ali Khan have come here. Apart from this, many leaders and ministers have also reached the shop. The special thing is that the taste of Kulfi attracts people not only in summer but throughout the year. Special flavors such as saffron cream pistachios, almonds, mango, paan, chocolate and sitaphal are prepared here. The way of making them is still kept as a secret recipe of the family.
