It is considered very auspicious to offer Panchamrit to Lord Krishna on Janmashtami. Panchamrit is prepared from five holy substances – milk, curd, honey, ghee and Ganga water or sugar candy. The mixture of these five is not only delicious but is also very important from religious point of view.

To make it, pure milk and curd are first mixed, then add honey and ghee to it and whisk it well. Finally, Panchamrit is prepared by adding Ganga water or sugar candy. This indulgence is distributed as offerings to devotees after offering it to God, which is a symbol of purity and prosperity.

Coriander registrary has special significance on Janmashtami and it has a tradition to offer it to Lord Krishna. Devotees who observe the fast also receive it as offerings. To make it, the coriander powder is first fryed in pure ghee.
