Shivpuran and other texts describe that in this month the body should be kept satvic and pure so that the complete result of fast, practice and worship can be achieved. Religious it is also believed that the consumption of tamasic food, sour or heavy things in the spring hinders mental and spiritual purity. Yogurt has acidity, which enhances tamasic properties. This is the reason that it is forbidden to eat it at this time.

Dr. Rajkumar of Kayalakalpakal Herbal Clinic says that according to Ayurveda, Vata Dosha is more active in the rainy season and the digestive system becomes weak. Due to the high moisture in the atmosphere in the spring, the fire of the body falls slow, which causes difficulty in digesting the food. Yogurt is heavy, acidic and phraseful by nature. Eating it can increase problems like indigestion, gas, swelling, cold and cold. Kadhi which is made from curd and gram flour is also considered harmful at this time. This can increase the Vata Dosha further, which gives rise to joint pain, laziness and skin related problems.

According to Dr. Rajkumar, science also supports this belief. In the rainy season, the number of bacteria and viruses in the atmosphere becomes more. In such a situation, products like milk and yogurt can deteriorate quickly and harmful microorganisms can grow in them. Yogurt gets spoiled quickly due to high moisture and low temperature. Eating it can cause food poisoning or stomach diseases. Things like Kadhi further affect the digestive system, especially for those whose digestion is already weak.
