Benefits of ginger tea
Ginger has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties which help in removing cold, sore throat and stiffness in the body in winter. It improves digestion, keeps the body warm and strengthens the immune system. Especially when the weather is cold and the body starts feeling lethargic, then ginger tea acts like a natural tonic.
Method of preparation
Ingredients (for 2 cups):
- Water – 2 cups
- Milk – 1 cup (as per taste)
- Tea leaves – 2 teaspoons
- Ginger – 1 inch piece (grated or crushed)
- Sugar – as per taste
- Cardamom – 1 small cardamom
Method:
- First of all, pour water in a pan and add grated ginger and cardamom in it.
- Boil it on medium flame for 2-3 minutes so that the ginger juice dissolves well in water.
- Now add tea leaves to it and boil for 2 more minutes.
- After this add milk and sugar. Boil it for 3-4 minutes until the color of the tea becomes dark and the taste becomes intense.
- Filter the tea and serve it in a hot cup.
Tips to enhance taste
- If you like spicy taste then you can increase the quantity of ginger a little.
- Tea becomes even more medicinal by adding basil leaves or a small piece of cinnamon.
- Honey or jaggery can also be used if you avoid sugar.
