Mumbai’s Bombay style garlic chutney is made from red chilli, garlic and roasted chana dal. It gives spicy and tangy taste to many street foods including vada pav and is easily made at home.

Bombay style garlic chutney is the lifeblood of Mumbai’s street food. Its taste is so unique that it takes every food to a different level. This chutney made of red chilli, garlic and roasted gram dal is not only spicy but both its texture and aroma are wonderful. The special thing is that it can be made very easily at home and it can also be stored in the refrigerator for many days.
When the chutney is ready, if you want, you can make it even tastier with light seasoning. For this, heat some oil in a small pan, add a pinch of asafoetida and some red chilli powder and turn off the gas. Now pour this tadka on the prepared chutney.
With this, the aroma of the chutney will increase manifold and its color will also appear deeper and attractive. The specialty of this Bombay style garlic chutney is that it can be prepared both dry and wet. Dry chutney is made without water so that it can be stored for a long time.
