Material:
- Bottle gourd – 700 grams (remove the peel, wash it and cut it into big pieces)
- Soaked chana dal – ½ cup (soak 4 hours before)
- Tomato – 2 (half chopped)
- Water – 3 cups
- Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
- Salt – as per taste
- Ghee – 3 spoons
- Cumin – 1 teaspoon
- Bay leaf – 1
- Green cardamom – 2-3
- Green chilli – 6
- Ginger – 4 inches
- Red chilli powder – ½ teaspoon
- Coriander powder – 1 teaspoon
- Garam Masala – ½ tsp
- Black pepper – ½ teaspoon
- Coriander leaves – for garnish
Method of preparation:
-First of all put the bottle gourd pieces in the pressure cooker. Add soaked gram dal and half chopped tomato to it. Add 3 cups of water, turmeric and salt and close the lid. Boil on medium flame for 5 whistles.
During this time, grind 6 green chillies and ginger in a mortar and make a paste. This will enhance the taste and aroma of the vegetable.
-When the cooker cools down, open it and keep the vegetables in the pot on the gas. Add 3 spoons of ghee, cumin, bay leaves and green cardamom and fry.
-Now add green chilli-ginger paste and fry. Then add turmeric, red chilli powder and chopped tomato. Cook on medium flame for 4 minutes until the tomatoes become soft.
-Now add cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, black pepper and coriander leaves and fry. Add boiled bottle gourd and chana dal and mix gently.
-Cook for 5 minutes on low flame and before turning off the gas, add coriander leaves in good quantity.

- Cooking on low flame enhances the flavor of spices and vegetables.
- If you like spicy, you can increase green chillies.
