Thekua is a traditional sweet of Bihar and Jharkhand, which is especially made on the occasion of Chhath Puja. Its taste is not only amazing but it is also very nutritious. Usually thekua is made with flour and sugar, but today we are telling you a healthy thekua recipe without flour and sugar, which will taste absolutely traditional but will be even better for health. In this recipe we will use wheat flour and jaggery, which not only provide energy to the body but are also beneficial for digestion.
Now let’s talk about the method of making it.
– First of all, put grated jaggery and some water in a vessel and melt it on low flame.
– When the jaggery dissolves well, turn off the gas and let it cool.
– Now add wheat flour, coconut shavings, cardamom powder, fennel and desi ghee in a big vessel.
– Mix all this well so that the mixture feels slightly crunchy.
Then slowly add the jaggery solution and knead a soft but slightly tight dough.
– Keep in mind that the dough should neither be too hard nor too loose.
– Now make small balls from the dough and press them with hands to give them the shape of thekua.
– If you want, you can also use a traditional wooden mold to bring the design on it.
– Heat desi ghee or coconut oil in a pan and fry thekua on low flame.
– When they become golden brown and look crunchy all around, take them out and keep them on tissue paper to remove excess oil.
