Doodh Peda Recipe, The festival of Diwali is a symbol of sweetness and happiness. On this occasion, various types of sweets are made in every house. One of these is Peda, which is an important part of every Indian sweet plate. Its soft texture and melt-in-the-mouth taste make it different from other sweets. Traditionally peda is made from khoya or mawa, but nowadays people also prepare it easily with condensed milk and milk powder. This quick recipe not only saves time during the busy days of Diwali but also retains the taste.
Ingredients required for making Peda-
- Instant non-fat dry milk powder – 1¼ cups (about 116 grams)
- Sweetened condensed milk – 1 can (14 ounces)
- Ghee – 2½ tbsp
- Full cream milk – 2½ tbsp
- Cardamom powder – ½ tsp
- Salt – ¼ tsp
Method to make Peda (Step-by-Step Recipe)

step 1:
Add milk powder and sweetened condensed milk in a non-stick pan. Mix both well so that the milk powder gets completely hydrated. Now keep it on medium-high flame and keep stirring for about 3 minutes.
Step 2:
Now add ghee, full cream milk, cardamom powder and salt in it. Mix well. Keep stirring this mixture continuously so that it does not stick to the bottom. In about 5 minutes the mixture will start thickening and leaving the sides of the pan. When it seems clumped together, turn off the gas. Take it out in a bowl and let it cool for 5 minutes.
Step 3:
Apply some ghee on your hands and now take the peda mixture in your hands and make small balls (about 1½ tablespoons or 20 grams). Press each circle lightly and give it the shape of a peda.
Step 4:
If you wish, you can make designs on these trees by applying slight pressure with a decorative stamp. These look even more beautiful. Now let them cool completely.
Tips to serve and store-
-Keep the trees in an airtight container in the refrigerator. These remain fresh for about two weeks.
-If you are making it in a large batch, spread the mixture in a baking tray, let it cool and then cut it into square or bar shapes.
