In the month of Sawan, when Jasdesar Dham of Barmer is filled with Shraddha and faith, then in one corner, elderly Kamala Devi sets up a shop full of taste. Everyone eagerly waits for this shop on the day of four Mondays and Hariyali Teej. A crowd of customers throngs since morning and many times the things made by grandmother end in minutes. The red spicy smell of the koftas and the special sweetness of the chilli elder, draws the special sweetness of the elder.
Kamala Devi’s husband once used to run breakfast shop in Barmer. But after his death 38 years ago, when the responsibility of the daughters came to Kamala Devi, he herself got up. For about 30 years, Grandma picked up the basket on her head and sold Mirchi big and koftas. She used to wander about 25 kilometers every day and bring her dishes made to the people. When his knees stopped supporting, Mahant Pratap Puri of Jasdesar Dham gave him a place to set up a shop in front of the temple.

Now on the four Mondays of Sawan and on the day of Hariyali Teej, Kamla Devi sets up her shop in front of Jasdesar Dham. Things like Kofta, Mirchi Bada, Kachori, Farali, Aloo Papdi and Sagar Koftas are available at their shop. In a special conversation with Local 18, Grandma says that for these six days she works hard throughout the year and what tastes her taste once comes back again and again. The taste of his hands has now become a story of hard work, struggle and self -esteem, not only the dishes.
