Dehradun: During the rainy days, many people like to eat snacks like samosas and dumplings. At the same time, a different type of dish is prepared in the mountains of Uttarakhand, it is called Patyodi. It can only be eaten for 3 months of rain, because it is prepared from Arabic leaves. It is a special way to make it. Patyodi is known by different names at different places. It is called Patod in Uttar Pradesh and Patyodi in Uttarakhand.
Ayurvedic doctor Dr. Shalini Jugran said that Patyodi must eat people who lack iron. Consuming it also does not cause anemia. He told that by eating Patyodi, the body gets the essential nutrients. He said that eating leafy vegetable during rainy days is beneficial because Arabic leaves are rich in vitamin C which strengthens immunity. Due to the good amount of vitamin C, it becomes a very beneficial dish. It is also consumed in the mountains in rain and cold weather.
Navendu Raturi, a resident of Dehradun, said that people eat crunchy snacks during the rainy days, our mountains are made pattodi from Arabic leaves. He told that the old method is adopted to make it. For this, some clean leaves of Arabic are washed.
After this, a thick paste is prepared by dissolving a little gram flour, salt, ground chili, chopped fine onion and dari chili. This paste is applied on Arab leaves. Arabic leaves are bended inward and tied with threads. After this, water is taken in a pot and tied a wet cotton cloth on it.
If you have steam pots available then you can use it. After 10 to 15 minutes it is steam. After this, they are left to cool for a while and then cut and deep fry in the pan or in a pan. This makes them very crunchy and tasty.
