Raipur. Jai Pillar Chowk in the capital Raipur is considered to be the heart of the city and it is here that there is a shop for the last 30 years, which fascinates the citizens in the morning. This is ‘Sahu Poha’, which Chandradeep Sahu runs with his father and brother. This shop is identified, especially from Indori Style Poha and Jalebi, which has tasted Raipurians as well as people coming from outside.

Starting from 5 in the morning, this shop remains buzzing till 10 pm daily. The special thing is that the breakfasts here are not only new customers, but also old customers who eat Poha-Jalebi for 15 years, 20 years and even 30 years continuously reach here daily. This is the reason why the shop has created its own identity. Chandradeep Sahu says that taste and quality is the real capital of this shop.

The Poha-Jalebi plate found here is available for only 30 rupees, which includes 3 nos Jalebi along with Pohe. Customers believe that poha-jalebi is found in many places in the city, but Sahu Poha has a different taste. Once tasting it, people come back again and again.

When Local 18 asked Chandradeep Sahu the recipe of Indouri Pohe, he told in a very easy manner that making poha starts by heating the embroidery. First of all, a little oil is added to it and a temper of mustard and green chillies is applied. After this, the soaked pohe is added to the pan by adding salt and spices as per taste, then the famous Jiravan masala, lemon juice, sev, finely chopped onion and green coriander leaves of Indore.

Chandradeep says that Jiravan Masala is the life of this pohe. It is specially sourced from Indore and that is why customers feel the real Indore in taste. The sour-twisted and aromatic taste of the spice makes the pohe special and reminds the eater the taste of the streets of Indore.
