A special shop is being discussed a lot in Mianwala area of Dehradun these days. The name is Manduwa King, where everything is found from Momo to Pizza, but in a different way. The only difference is that all the items found here are not made from the flour, but the manduva i.e. ragi. This is a unique initiative, originally from Karnprayag, Subhash Raturi.

The eyebrows of health experts are usually tanned about fast food, but Subhash Raturi has challenged this thinking. He has prepared such a fusion of traditional hill grain Manduva that now Choumin, Momo and even burgers are going to be counted in healthy options. Eating things made from Manduve also keeps the stomach happy and the body is also fit.

After studying hotel management from Chennai, Subhash worked in big hotels around the world. But, amidst foreign flavors, he repeatedly kept harassing his village. This attachment inspired him to return to Uttarakhand. He started ‘Manduwa King’ by dreaming of presenting the taste and tradition of the mountain in a modern style.

The names in the items found on Manduwa King are the same old, but there is a difference of land in taste and health. Here momo, chowmin, noodles, burgers, pizza, jhangore kheer, Manduve tea and even Manduve’s coffee are available here. That is, along with taste, nutrition has also been taken care of.

The popularity of these healthy fast foods made from Manduwe is increasing rapidly. Parents bring their children here freely. One customer said that ever since he has tasted momo of Manduve, he has stopped eating momo with fine flour. The taste is such that the tongue climbs and the health is such that the doctor also becomes happy.

Subhash Raturi started Manduva based fast food in the year 2017. There were many challenges in the initial stages, but they did not give up. Gradually, people adopted his concept and today his name has not only been on Dehradun, but also on online food order apps.

Along with fast food, Raturi has also innovated in beverages. He has also introduced healthy juices and mocktails made of mountainous herbs and products. Their taste is so pleasing to people that people come from far and wide only to drink.

Subhash Raturi believes that employment is not limited to jobs only. He told in a conversation with Local 18 that if the youth present the hill products in a new way, then good income and identity can be made in the mountain too. Making fast food from Manduve is not just their business, but also a social message – dissolve health and connect with your roots.
