The festival of Rakshabandhan is a festival of love and faith in the relationship of brother and sister. Every year on the full moon day of Sawan month, this festival is celebrated with great pomp across the country. On this day, the sisters tie a rakhi on the brother’s wrist and bless their good health and long life by feeding them sweets. However, this festival seems incomplete without sweets.

Often, the demand for sweets in the market increases during the festival season, which also increases the possibility of adulteration. Adulterated mawa, chemical -rich colors and cheap oils in sweets can be harmful to health. But this time, if you want, you can make the festival even more memorable by making a special sweets at home.

Instead of taking sweets from the market on this Rakshabandhan, you can make sago barfi at home, which is tasty as well as beneficial for health. The special thing is that the sisters keeping fast on the full moon day can also eat this dessert. Because, sago comes in fruit. Often, after tying rakhi to the brother and feeding sweets, the sister herself could not eat sweets.

At the same time, most market sweets are not valid during the fast. Sago barfi is a dessert that can also be eaten during the fast. It has a taste of milk, ghee, nuts and cardamom, dryfruits along with sago, which makes it special. This dessert is also very easy to make and it does not take much time.

First of all fry 1 cup of sago in a pan on low heat. When its color turns lightly and it becomes crisp, then cool it and make fine powder in the mixer. Boil 2 cups of milk in a separate vessel till thick on low flame, so that its taste and sweetness can increase.

Now heat 2 teaspoons of ghee in a pan and add prepared sago powder to it. Keep stirring it on low flame so that its taste and fragrance will be improved well. After this, add thick milk to it and keep stirring continuously, so that kernels are not made in the mixture.

Now add sugar to the mixture as per taste and cook until it becomes thick and like a flour. At this time, add 2 tablespoons of chopped cashews and the same almonds and also add half a teaspoon of cardamom powder. The fragrance of cardamom makes this barfi even wonderful.

Apply ghee in a plate or tray and lubricate it. Put the prepared mixture in it and spread it well. Sprinkle a little chopped cashew-almond on top and press it with light hands, so that the decoration is set well. Now let it cool down, then cut it into the desired shape. Your sago is ready to become barfi.

Please tell that, the scent and taste of the house made on the festival is different from any dessert purchased from the market. On this Rakshabandhan, if you also feed your brother a barfi of sago made with your hard work and love, then this day will always remain in the heart.
