Jalore: The month of Sawan, the festival of Teej and the importance of the house in the house… The fast of Teej in Rajasthan is considered incomplete without Sattu. On this day, Suhagin women keep Nirjala fast throughout the day and worship Teej Mata and open their fast only by offering Sattu.

According to religious tradition, a special dessert is the most important in Teej fast. This sweets made from roasted gram, desi sugar, ghee and dry fruits are offered to Teej Mata before opening the fast. It is believed that by offering this offerings with reverence, there is happiness and prosperity in the marital life and the married bond is strong. This is the reason that this tradition is being played with equal reverence for generations.

After completing the fast, Suhagin women distribute it to other Suhagins along with worship material. First of all, grind the roasted gram finely and make it like a flour. Add desi sugar to it and then add melted desi ghee. Add finely chopped cashews, almonds and cardamom powder to it. Knead all the ingredients well. Now spread it in a plate and set it in the desired shape. In some places it is also offered by filling it in paan or belpatra, which looks beautiful and wonderful to eat.
