As soon as the winter season arrives, the aroma of sweet potatoes spreads in the markets. It is not only tasty but also full of health. Sweet potatoes contain abundant amounts of fiber, iron, calcium and vitamin A, which keeps the body warm and gives energy. If you want to try a spicy version of this nutritious vegetable, then sweet potato chaat is a great option – delicious in taste and very easy to make.

First of all, wash the sweet potatoes thoroughly and boil them. Be careful not to boil it too much, otherwise it will become very soft and start breaking. Boiling on medium flame for about 8-10 minutes is enough. After boiling, remove its peel and cut it into small pieces or round slices. If you want, you can also fry it lightly on coal or gas flame so that the aroma of smoke comes in it.

Now comes the turn to make the chaat spicy. Put boiled sweet potato pieces in a big vessel and add finely chopped onion, tomato, green chilli and coriander to it. After this add half spoon chaat masala, a pinch of roasted cumin powder, a little red chilli powder and black salt as per taste. If you wish, squeeze some lemon juice also – this adds both sourness and freshness to the taste and makes the taste better.

If you like spicy taste, you can also add some green chutney and sweet tamarind chutney to this chaat. Due to this, the taste of chaat becomes like the chaat found on the roadside. Adding one or two drops of mustard oil on top gives it a local aroma which gives special pleasure in winters.

Finally, mix it well so that all the spices coat each piece properly. Garnish by adding some sev or roasted gram powder on top. Your tangy, spicy and nutritious sweet potato chaat is ready.

This chaat not only satisfies evening hunger but also takes care of health. If hot sweet potato chaat is enjoyed with tea or soup on a cold evening, the enjoyment of the season doubles.
