Arwa Rice: As soon as the great festival Chhath arrives, I start remembering the Arwa rice from farmer Lalaji’s fields. During the preparation of this rice, anyone is prohibited from entering the mill after getting intoxicated or consuming khaini, gutka etc. Therefore, considering its purity, its demand increases.
Farmer Lala Sudama Prasad and his son Rajiv Kumar Srivastava are behind the fame of Mahuawan village of Aams block area of Gaya district. Lala Sudama Prasad cultivates paddy especially for Chhath festival on about 10 bighas of land. Then with full faith and devotion, taking care of its purity, they prepare Arwa rice in their own kitchen, so that it can be used in Chhath Puja without any hesitation.
Cultivating rice since 1970
It is noteworthy that farmer Lala Sudama Prasad has been farming in about 10 bighas since 1970. Every year, Bichda is sown in the fields from 1st to 5th June, planting starts in the first week of July and harvesting the paddy crop in the first week of October is the identity of Lalaji. Keeping in mind the great festival Chhath, Lala ji plants and harvests paddy on time, so that people do not have to be disappointed during Chhath.
Lalaji’s son Rajeev Kumar Srivastava says that on the occasion of Chhath, the Arwa rice from the farm goes to various villages and cities of Aurangabad and Jharkhand and also to foreign countries from which Kheer is made. People send Arava rice from here to their relatives living in other countries and states to celebrate Chhath, because rice is not prepared so quickly anywhere in the entire area.
Rice is sold in a line
Lalaji’s son Rajiv Srivastava told that keeping Chhath in mind, the paddy has been harvested in the first week of October, threshed from the barn and sent to his rice mill to prepare rice. Rice is being prepared for two-three days and people from different areas of the district who celebrate Chhath festival take Arwa rice from here. He told that the demand for this rice is so much that people stand in line to buy this rice.
Take care of purity and chastity
Rajeev Srivastava told that Arwa rice is prepared with complete purity and purity. There is a ban on anyone entering the mill after getting intoxicated or consuming khaini, gutka etc. while preparing rice. People are not even allowed to wear slippers and shoes. Even in the fields where paddy is grown for Chhath festival, he himself does not go wearing slippers and shoes.
Rajiv Kumar Srivastava told that he goes to various villages and cities of Gaya, Aurangabad and Jharkhand. Those who are living in other countries and are celebrating Chhath there, their family members take rice to celebrate Chhath. Because rice is not prepared so quickly anywhere in the entire region. This time we are providing rice to people at Rs 60 per kg.
