Modak is a popular dessert of Maharashtra, especially on Ganesh Chaturthi. These are sweet coconut and small balls filled with jaggery. Stemed modaks are most liked, but Fried, Chocolate and Dry Fruit Modak are also available in the market.

The taste and fragrance of modak is very breathtaking. A mixture of coconut and jaggery makes it sweet and tasty. Putting saffron and nutmeg makes its fragrance and color even more attractive. The taste of homemade modak is different and freshly fresh from the market.

Take 1 cup grated coconut, 1 cup jaggery, a pinch of nutmeg and saffron for Bharavan. Necessary for shells: 1 cup of water, 2 tsp ghee and 1 cup rice flour. All the ingredients are easily found and enough to make modak at home.

Add grated coconut and jaggery to the pan and fry it lightly for five minutes. Add nutmeg and saffron to it and then cook on low flame for five minutes. After the Bharavan is ready, keep it on the side.

Boil water and ghee in deep pots. Add salt and rice flour to it and mix well. Cover the pot and cook half. Make small hot dough and make small dough and prepare the edges in the shape of the flower.

Add the prepared Bharavan in the middle of the dough. Mix the four edges and close it well. The size of modak should be round and flower. Prepare all modaks in this way so that they are ready to cook in steam.

Place modak on Malmal’s cloth and cook in steam for about 10-15 minutes. The hot modak is ready. Serve it and enjoy it with family and friends on Ganesh festival. Stemed modaks are the most tasty and lighter.
